Purpose
We provide accessible herbal education and resources. Through exploring the medicinal, cultural, ecological, and historical significance of the plants around us, we hope to foster deeper relationships between nature, people, and communities.
Our work is rooted in respect—for traditional knowledge, diverse cultural practices, the land, and the communities who care for it. We believe that learning about plants and placing them into daily practice can be a pathway toward greater connection, stewardship, and collective well-being
Policies
The Northern Medicinal Plant Collective’s policies are designed to create a safe, respectful, ethical, and welcoming environment for everyone who learns, teaches, mentors, volunteers, or participates in our community.
The Team

Gail is a practicing naturopathic doctor, educator, and lifelong student of the plant world. With a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) degree and a bachelor’s degree in Botany from the University of Wisconsin, Gail brings together a strong scientific foundation, professional experience, and a deep appreciation for the plants and landscapes of the Upper Midwest.
Born and raised in northern Wisconsin, where she continues to live and practice, Gail has developed an especially meaningful connection to the region’s plant life. Her teaching helps students deepen their understanding of medicinal plants while emphasizing thoughtful, responsible, and safe herbal practices. She is also highly knowledgeable about herbalism regulations, safety guidelines, certification requirements, and the professional considerations students may encounter as they continue their education.
Gail offers in-person and online courses, as well as individualized mentoring, making her instruction accessible to students with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and experience levels. Her approach is collaborative and supportive: she encourages questions, shared learning, careful observation, and respect for both traditional plant knowledge and contemporary standards of practice.
Above all, Gail wants students to leave her courses feeling informed, capable, and empowered. Whether someone is exploring medicinal plants for personal enrichment or considering further study, she strives to provide the knowledge, guidance, and encouragement needed to take the next step with confidence.
